Seven Czech films and projects will be presented in various sections of Trieste Film Festival (Januray 20 – 29, 2017). In the main competition the festival hit I, Olga Hepnarova, which opened the Panorama section of Berlinale 2016, will be screened.

Two movies will be shown in documentary competition: A Hole in the Head by Robert Kirchohoff, about the Holocaust as a scar on the body and soul of the European Roma and Sinti survivors, and Normal Autistic Film by Miroslav Janek, who challenges us once and for all to stop perceiving autism as a medical diagnosis and try to understand it as a fascinating way of thinking even if often maddeningly difficult to decipher.

Out of competition will be presented feature film by famous Czech director Jan Hřebejk The Teacher, set in the early 1980s in Czechoslovakia. A seemingly passionate and kind teacher uses her pupils to manipulate their parents for her own personal benefit. Inspired by true events, the last work of Hřebejk, successful author and nominated to the Oscar with Divided we fall.

Art and Sound section will present two movies: Koudelka Shooting Holy Land about the legendary Magnum photographer Josef Koudelka arriving in Israel and Palestine, and Doomed Beauty by Helena Třeštíková, describes the story of Lída Baarová, the famous Czechoslovakian actress, who had an affair with the Third Reich Minister of Propaganda, Joseph Goebbels. It is the last biographical portrait of Helena Třeštíková, to whom the Trieste Film Festival dedicated a tribute in 2010.

In addition, the Czech documentary film project Lust for Life (directed by Radovan Síbrt - Pink Productions) will be presented at the seventh edition of When East Meets West, the Italian co-production forum taking place on January 22-24, 2017 in the context of the Trieste Film Festival.
