A nameless protagonist lives in a City where the only food is human flesh. At the center of the City is the Market, where those who commit even minor offenses end up on the butchers’ counters. However, only masked policemen have the right to slaughter people and supply meat to the Market. In a desperate situation, the protagonist illegally murders and consumes a person, fleeing the City out of fear of the police and butchers. After a few days, he arrives in a beautiful countryside, where he is rescued by a peaceful community living by its own rules. The protagonist fails to accept their way of life and is banished back to the City, where only death awaits him. The policemen slaughter him, and his lifelong dream to reach the first class of the Market is fulfilled. Though only as fresh meat.
