Outskirts of winter Prague: two flats, same block. Upstairs, a man flees fatherhood; downstairs, a mother clings to the past - until children reveal mysteries, forcing them to face their deepest fears
A winter day on Prague’s outskirts: one building, two flats, two strangers in a whirlwind of change. Upstairs, Niko (25), a sensitive Romani man, flees the homebirth of his first child, hiding in a mall. There, he takes responsibility for two wild children in trouble. Together, they cross the city to find where the children belong, and in the end, they confront Niko, forcing him to face fatherhood. Downstairs, Selma (33), a single mother, hosts a spiritist to help her chronically sad son (8). During a séance to connect the boy with his dead father, Selma realizes it was she who needed saving all along. By nightfall, both witness a miracle: as Niko’s daughter is born, the soothing arm of Selma’s lost partner reaches out from beyond.
