Bob, an overweight boy from a devoutly religious family, is sent to a medical resort, where he befriends Vítek, an incurably ill nihilist, and falls unhappily in love with an intern Káťa. This unlikely friendship and newfound feelings drive him into darkness, forcing him to question his own beliefs.
Bob (18) is an overweight, kind-hearted boy raised in a devout Catholic family, where religion shapes his entire world. Wanting him to lose weight, his parents send him to a religious medical resort, with a car promised as a reward. There, he shares a room with Vítek (17), a nihilist suffering from an incurable muscle disease who rejects both faith and hope. He also falls for Káťa (23), a warm and open-hearted intern. During the stay, both relationships intensify, but as Káťa rejects Bob, he succumbs to Vítek’s mentality. This leads to an ill-considered act of revenge: Bob puts insect poison into her drink, leaving Káťa in a coma. As prayers for her recovery go unanswered, Bob falls apart, and Vítek manipulates him into one final, irreversible act: helping him end his suffering.
