Juliana, “the only redhead in the family,” sets out to investigate the myth that redheads could disappear within a hundred years. Meeting people who share the experience of being different, she explores stereotypes, identity and her own relationship to a community she has never really felt part of. But during filming, Juliana is diagnosed with multiple sclerosis, shifting the focus from red hair to her own body and the limits of control. A fragmented voice-over based on her diaries is combined with associative images filmed from three perspectives: observational, personal and poetic. What begins as a playful search into the possible extinction of redheads gradually becomes an intimate journey towards accepting her changing body and living with uncertainty.
